Prospective Parents and Carers - Admissions
Education is fundamental to future success, so choosing the right primary school for your child is vital.
At Kirkbride Primary School we a provide a dynamic and nurturing environment that values every child and enables them to gain high self-esteem, morals, confidence and the motivation to succeed.
Our whole school ethos and values are embedded into everything we do here and pupils are happy, eager to learn and well behaved.
We have fantastic facilities, extensive grounds and a wide-range of extra-curricular activities, football, book club, computing and multi-skills.
We work hard to find ways to 'bring learning alive' so you might find us exploring the outdoors, working with a real life author, taking part in drama, or even setting up a tea-party in our classroom!
We know that choosing a school for your child is a daunting prospect. We're here to support you, so that when you do make a decision you can be confident it's the right decision.
Families who join our school community often comment on the family feel that we foster here. We work in small classes, ensuring that every member of staff knows every child well.
Our first class Acorn, has children only from Nursery and Reception who are nurtured on every step of their educational start by the class teacher and Early Years Leader Miss Taylor as well as Higher Level Teaching Assistant Mrs Simpson and Teaching Assistant Miss Miles.
In addition, Mrs Simpson works across the school to support children's learning and well-being through intervention sessions.
The next class, Ash has children from year 1 and 2, where our children transition to the National Curriculum. Miss Marsh the class teacher ensures learning is fun, engaging and children are able to develop further skills learnt in Early Years. Our Teaching Assistant Miss Maxwell, supports and guides the children through additional group work, and early intervention. Mrs O'Brien provides specialist support to children with targeted needs.
In Elm class children transition to the juniors in year 3 and 4, with Mrs Mountford as class teacher. She has a passion for learning outside the classroom and getting hands-on wherever possible.
Miss Satterthwaite (Teaching Assistant) and Mrs Stamper (Higher Level Teaching Assistant) are skilled at delivering interventions and group sessions which support learning and children's wellbeing.
Oak class Years 5 and 6, capitalises on lifelong learning skills and ensuring that all pupils are ready for secondary education. The class teacher Mrs Coopey has a wealth of experience which is reflected in our happy, secure and confident learners.
We follow the Policy set out by the Cumberland Local Authority. Pupils will be admitted at age 3+, without reference to ability or aptitude.
