House Teams and Pupil Leaders

Houses

In school we have four ‘Houses’ each child is placed in a House when they join the school. This year we have launched new house names after a vote and consultation with our children. They are now called:

Explorers (Red)

Discoverers (Yellow)

Challengers (Blue)

Adventurers (Green)

In an assembly, we discussed what each new name meant to us, and who the champions of these teams could be.

We held a competition to design a shield for each house.

The children are awarded house points for demonstrating and role-modelling our school values friendship, honesty, trust, ambition, friendship, respect, which we learn about in our weekly assemblies and these are collected onto the Class Dojo website. These are counted and the winning house receive a ‘House of the Term Treat’.

Each House has two Captains which are chosen from Year 6  (or Year 5)

Sporting Activities in School

Sainsbury's School Games

The Sainsbury's School Games Mark is a Government led awards scheme launched in 2012 to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community. Schools in England are able to assess themselves across bronze, silver and gold levels of the Mark.

We are proud to have been awarded the Sainsbury's School Games PLATINUM Mark this year!

This award reflects many things to do with our PE provision in school, including:

  • The quantity of high-quality PE lessons our children receive each week;
  • The amount of children participating in extra-curricular sporting activity each week;
  • The support we provide for our talented young sports people and less active children;
  • The number of competitive events we take part in each year.

Not only is receiving the Platinum award a true reflection of the quality and opportunities Kirkbride provides for all children, but also a credit to the children for their engagement, talent and improvement across sports in school! Well done to everyone!
