In September 2022, we welcomed Andy Tooze a fabulously funny and engaging poet to our school. He shared some of his own poetry and we also got to write our own. There were some excellent examples, and some of our children were very inspired to continue at home in their homework!

In March 2022, we welcomed Imran Kotwol, a practising Muslim, teacher and leader to our school to help us to learn and understand about his daily life, his beliefs and the importance of his faith to him and his family.

After a whole school assembly, Elm class learned about the Five Pillars of Islam with him and Oak class had a workshop all about Ramadan with him. The children showed excellent learning about and from his religion in their work, and their amazing range of questions and comments to him.

Ford Castle - Northumberland - adventure in a Castle.

In June 2025, we were very adventurous as we slept in a real life castle and enjoyed this one centre outward bounds experience with the year 4, 5, and 6 children over two nights/three days. Evening camp fire games, toasting marshmallows, raft building, abseiling, zip-wiring and a (not so) silent disco filled our days and nights and we loved exploring the grounds too. We were so brave and the sense of achievement for all our children and staff was awesome!

Berwick - exploring the North East coast

We ventured to Berwick-On-Tweed for the Residential in June 2024 with the year 4, 5 and 6 children this year. Taking in a Life Boat trip, Life Centre in Newcastle and Beamish Museum in the North East, we filled our two night/three days with new experiences.

London - City Break.

In June 2023 we travelled from Kirkbride and visited London with our Year 4, 5, and 6 children for four days. What a fantastic experience we had visiting many of the landmarks, museums and city sights. We enjoyed dinner out before seeing Matilda in the West End and then visited Harry Potter World on the journey back.

Malham - Countryside and Rivers

In June 2022, the year 4, 5 and 6 children spent 2 nights at the YHA in Malham, in the Yorkshire Dales. They experienced river and stream studies, they explored the local area and loved being out and about learning how to work as a team. Please see the presentation for Parents for all the details.

On 17th July 2024, the whole school went on a trip to South Lakes Animal Safari park as an end of year adventure. The children had a fantastic time, feeding the giraffes and lemurs, seeing the animals up close and hearing all their sounds. From our Nursery children to the oldest in Year 6, the children had a wonderful day, asking lots of questions, listening carefully to the information from the Zoo-keepers and  showing respect to the public. Their behaviour and attitudes were outstanding. Well done everyone.
